No double-deductions
Two orders at the same time? No problem. Each shared stock has its own process that handles operations one at a time, so simultaneous sales are counted correctly and never double-counted.

The honest part
We reduce overselling. We cannot rule it out, and nobody else can: Shopify delivers order data to apps a few seconds after each checkout, so in an extreme flash-sale surge, when dozens of orders land in the same few seconds, sales can briefly outrun the sync. Our checkout protection reads a count that can lag for the same reason, so a small number of units can still oversell.
What we do about it: every order is processed the moment its webhook arrives, not on a 10-minute timer. Carts that would overdraw shared stock are blocked at checkout. And you can hold a reserve buffer so a burst eats into the cushion instead of your real count. Together these make overselling rare and small, not impossible.
